The History of Data Exchange
Timothy Sehn
CEO, DoltHub Inc
Since the 1960s when databases were invented, we’ve needed to move data between two databases. The CSV file was supported in the Fortran compiler 1972. Since then, the humble CSV file format has been the dominant method of data exchange. Why is that? Is there not a better way? This talk will explore the history of data and code exchange. It will conclude by introducing Dolt, a database designed for exchange.
