Data Governance Is a Team Sport: How We Built a Data Community

About the Session

Many organizations launch data governance programs only to watch them stall. Policies get written, tools get implemented, but data quality issues persist and stakeholders remain disengaged. The core challenge isn’t the framework itself, it’s getting people across the business to care and take ownership.

In this session I’ll share how we tackled that challenge at Daikin Europe by building an active data community across domains and dozens of countries. You’ll learn how our federated approach combines centralized principles with local execution, and why that model helped non-data professionals step into meaningful stewardship roles.

We’ll look at the roles that make a community work, the touchpoints and rituals that keep engagement high, and the skills needed to sustain momentum. I’ll also share the cultural and organizational hurdles we faced, and how we overcame them.

If you want your governance efforts to move beyond documents and dashboards, this session will show you how to turn passive stakeholders into committed data allies and build a community that lasts.
