Over the past eight years, we have enabled AUMOVIO (previously: Continental Automotive) to integrate artificial intelligence as a core foundation of its products and established the company’s largest global AI development centre, delivering high-impact solutions in autonomous mobility.

This presentation outlines how AI development was successfully scaled—from defining agile working models to creating strategic organizational structures—to accelerate innovation in autonomous mobility within a 150-year-old global enterprise.

Balázs Lóránd is the leader of the largest AI development centre of AUMOVIO (previously: Continental Automotive) Group globally and the head of AI of the Business Area Autonomous Mobility.

After earning his Ph.D he transitioned to T-Systems, where he managed a global team of experts in the company’s flagship big data innovation project and enhanced their big data and analytics portfolio. Following that he joined GE Digital to lead the ingestion of sourcing data into a data lake, resulting in immediate significant savings. In 2018 he joined Continental, where he established the data engineering and infrastructure development team for deep learning.

By 2020, he had advanced to Head of the Artificial Intelligence Development Center. Under his leadership, the portfolio of activities expanded significantly with the establishment of the Application Development Center in 2022, and today, AUMOVIO Autonomous Mobility Hungary operates a nationwide software development network. Since 2023, he has also taken on global responsibilities in artificial intelligence and driving innovation in AI applications worldwide.
