Abstract
Founded in 1965, EF Education First is a global association of education companies that shares a common mission of opening the world through education, offering language, academic, cultural exchange, and education travel programs.
For the past 18 years, EF relied on a homegrown CRM solution built in 200 and based on SQL Server. Over the years, BI analysts developed stored procedures in SQL Server to generate reports and support business operations. While the system served us well, the growing complexity and limitations of the legacy infrastructure prompted us to modernize our data stack.
This modernization included migrating thousands of tables, views, stored procedures, pipelines, jobs and reports to a new stack consisting of Snowflake, AWS, Prefect, dbt, Fivetran and other cloud-based platforms. Join us as we dive deeper in our journey, exploring the challenges we faced, the lessons we learned and our vision for the future!
