About the Conference

The Budapest Data Forum is the premier vendor-independent conference in Hungary on data management and analytics.

The conference is organized by BI Consulting Hungary, a consulting company specialized in business intelligence and data warehousing. We  have been running DW/BI related events and trainings since 2008. Our flagship events are the Budapest Data Forum in June and the Budapest BI Forum in November.

What are the topics?

The topics covered by the conference include:

  • DW architectures
  • Data modeling
  • ETL and Data Integration
  • Real-time streaming
  • Data quality
  • Cloud-based DWs
  • Big Data tools and techniques
  • Hadoop and its ecosystem
  • Data science tools
  • Recruiting and managing analytics teams

Program tracks

The conference program will consist of the following traditional tracks:

  • Technology – Talks about interesting DW and Big Data technologies, including tools, languages, and libraries useful for managing data. Also best practices and tips-and-tricks presentations are welcome.
  • Case Studies – Case studies for DW and Big Data projects, both high-level, business focused and in-depth technical descriptions.
  • Process and Methodology – Talks about agile development, project management best practices, DW testing methods, data modeling approaches, recruiting and managing data teams, and marketing BI initiatives inside an organization are good fit for this track.
  • Data Science and Analytics – Talks on how to create business value from the massive amounts of data collected and stored.

Formats

A standard speaking slot will be 40 minutes long and a quick talk will be 15 minutes long (subject to change).

There is also a few free slots for half-day workshops, to be held on the 5th June (Friday). These workshops usually last 3 hours including breaks, and give a detailed introduction to a specific topic.

The preferred language of the talks is English, but we will consider a limited number of Hungarian talks as well.

What are the perks?

If you get selected as a speaker, here are the benefits

  • Free conference ticket. The selected speakers for full talks receive free registration to both days of the conference (Wednesday & Thursday), and speakers giving a quick talk receive a single-day ticket. Speakers selected for workshops receive an all-inclusive pass.
  • Meals included. All conference meals included in the registration (coffee breaks, lunch, welcome reception)
  • Travel and lodging subsidy. We have a budget for helping great speakers to get to Budapest, if needed.

Important Dates

The deadline for talk proposals are March 31, 2015. Al proposers notified by mid-April 2015.
